Dr. Taylor Hatchard works with adolescents and adults experiencing a range of conditions, including mood disorders (e.g., major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder), anxiety disorders (e.g., social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, specific phobias) and related disorders (e.g., OCD), and traumatic stress and related disorders (i.e., PTSD). Dr. Hatchard has client-centred approach to therapy and is trained in a number of evidence-based approaches, including disorder specific cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), trauma-focused treatments (e.g., cognitive-processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy), dialectical behaviour therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and mindfulness. Dr. Hatchard also has specialized training and experience supporting the 2SLGTBQIA+ community.
Currently, in addition to his role at HCCBT, Dr. Hatchard works at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH). Within his hospital role, he is the Clinical and Research Lead for Youth Mental Health and is currently the Clinical Manager for the Youth Wellness Centre (YWC) and the Eating Disorders Outpatient Clinic. Prior to this, he worked as a staff psychologist within the YWC, a speciality early intervention clinic for transitional aged youth (i.e., 17 to 25) with emerging mental health concerns, as well the Mood Treatment and Research Centre at SJHH. Concurrently, Dr. Hatchard is also a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, which is integrated within his hospital role, and provides consultation and teaches seminars and workshops on CBT for learners and professionals.
In terms of his education and clinical training, he received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa in 2018. He completed his residency at the Centre for Psychological Services and Research (CPSR), where he provided assessment and treatment services to youth and adults. During his doctoral training, Dr. Hatchard completed clinical training rotations at the Ottawa Hospital, Brockville General Hospital, Saint Vincent Hospital Complex Continuing Care, the Ottawa Institute of Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (OICBT), and the Ottawa Mindfulness Clinic.
